Katie Gardella has been a member of the MajorGiving.com team since August 2003. She works with public broadcasting clients all over the country in small, medium, and large markets. At many of these stations, such as WKSU in Kent, Ohio, NWPR, in Pullman, Washington, and Maine Public Broadcasting, she helped create a successful major giving program. At other stations, such as WBGO in Newarks, KUAF in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and WFAE in Charlotte, North Carolina, she has helped maintain and grow an already established program.

Katie has over 15 years of experience in all areas of fundraising.  She was previously Major Gifts Director at KPLU in Seattle where she managed all aspects of the major gifts program:  planning, prospecting, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts.  Under her leadership, KPLU experienced a dramatic increase in major gifts revenue and membership.  In recognition of this success, KPLU's major gift team won the 2002 Public Radio Major Giving award.

Prior to working in public radio, Katie managed the major gifts and planned giving program at the Tacoma Art Museum in Tacoma, Washington.  While there, she was an active participant in the Museum's $21 million capital campaign, preparing solicitation materials, participating in planning meetings, and staffing a board committee focusing on gifts of $50,000 and more.  Before moving to Seattle in 1997, Katie was a resident of Washington, DC where she did fundraising work for the National Parks and Conservation Association and the Washington National Cathedral.

Katie now lives in Jaffrey, New Hampshire with her husband Peter Straus.
