As consultants, our aim is to:
- Always understand and respond to what is in the best interest of the client.
- Provide honest work, support, and consultation at all times.
- Understand our own limitations and never misrepresent what we are capable of doing.
- Always maintain confidentiality.
- Disclose fees and services the client may expect in advance of any work undertaken.
- Adhere to the AFP code of ethics, with particular emphasis on the following:
- Act according to the highest standards and visions of one's institution, profession, and conscience.
- Advocate at all times adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Work for a salary or fee, not percentage-based compensation.
- Disclose all conflicts of interest.
- Adhere to the principle that all donor and prospect information created by, or on behalf of, an institution is the property of that institution and shall not be transferred or utilized except on behalf of that institution.
- Refrain from disclosing privileged information to unauthorized parties.
- Ensure that contributions are used in accordance with donors' intentions, to the best or our abilities.
- Never exploit any relationship with a donor, prospect, volunteer, or employee to benefit ourselves.
